Her big brown eyes,
danced across
with a grace divine; Her head swayed
from side to side,
a silent smile playing
across those vermilion lips;Becharmed I stood,
watching her sing.

I decided to start over with the first season once again, and just loved it. I would have seen the complete series some four or five times now, but every watch keeps me hooked to the monitor.
So Gibbs does watch movies, as he refers to the Harrison Ford movie Air Force One. I have always loved his nonchalant attitude and the his respect for talent. He is indeed impressed with Kate and it shows up every time she does things that set her apart from the crowd. Kate is the ever-observant and self-assured individual who just seems to love protocol, something that Gibbs gives a damn about. And Tony, I was amazed to find a more serious portrayal. He does try his flirty ways with Kate and manages to not get a head-pat from Gibbs. Abby is the super cool nerd and I love her Goth outfit, though I feel I can relate myself more to McGee than to her. And the lab, precise and technically perfect. Ducky is the old lad with lots of stories, who loves making small talk and who is the best in his line of work. And the NCIS Director Morrow, I seem to like him more than Vance. Every time there is a video conference with one of the federal biggies, he seems to be at ease; something which can be attributed to his age and experience. Well, the team is small, just 2 field agents, a forensic tech and a ME, until the episode ends with the 3rd field agent.
Gibbs is a wonderful character, portrayed very well by Harmon. The caffeine-addicted silver-haired sniper-turned-carpenter is just a brilliantly carved personality. So is Ducky, in later episodes there are places where he rules the roost. Of course, he is the only person Gibbs turns to in the team and the only one to know Jethro’s dark secrets. And Gibbs says “please” when asking Kate a chance to be aboard the Air Force 1. And the usual friendly vibes between him and Fornell is absent. They are all professional in the interactions.
For a first episode, it is wonderfully crafted and the screenplay is great. The story might not be one of the best cases the team has solved in the last 8 years, but is not a bad plot. I enjoyed my 40 minutes yesterday
Greener Trash Management at the UoA

During my walk I observed few newly installed trash cans around the campus. On a closer look they had solar panels and seemed to be much more than just a trash bin (the flashing lights drew my attention) . I remember reading about the use of Solar Powered Parking meters to replace the conventional coin meters in the UA News and also noticed the new ones at the UMC parking lot. But these trash cans seem to be really cool. A quick look at the BigBelly website (http://bigbellysolar.com/solutions/) shows that these cans also include a wireless asset management functionality.

“The Wannabe Geeks”

Grad school brings in new experiences, perspectives about life and people. I would classify the general student population into three categories: the non-geeks, the geeks and the wannabe geeks.
A clarification on the usage of the term geek. The dictionary defines it as : “A person who is intensely interested in a particular field or hobby and usually antisocial.” And this is just the colloquial definition of the word. Another meaning is that of a computer expert. My references are to the former meaning. A related term is “Nerd”, defined as “A person who is intellectual, skilled in one or more fields, and generally introverted”. Etymologically this is an alteration of the word “nut”, and usually referred to be synonymous with the word “geek”.
So how does such a derogatory word gain prominence in the world of grad school intelligentsia ? This is a term used to describe a select few; the exceptionally intelligent, the brainboxes. It has become a matter of prestige; the need to be revered as a geek / nerd. Ironically, the real geeks care the least on the Geekdom bestowed upon them. And the non-geeks live blissfully unaware of the notion of nerdiness. That leaves us with the third type, the Wannabe Geeks of the modern era. Inspired by television and movies alike, they are desperate to be crowned princes of Geekdom.
Achieve Geekdom in 24 Hours !!
1. Shelve off your shaving kit and do not bother to go for a haircut.
2. Get a pair of thick reading glasses. If your eye sight is perfect you can get one of those cheap, powerless glass. Preferably with a gold-plated frame.
3. Even if you have a backpack, do not forget to place your pencil behind the ear. Care should be taken not to hurt your ears by mistake.
4. The most important of the lot: Talk Quantum Physics, String Theory and Space Travel. If you know nothing about these topics, 10 hours of Big Bang Theory should do the trick !
5. Do not socialize. Well, one gets little time during grad school to party wild, still DO NOT socialize. And keep telling people how you hate those parties.
6. Get a white board and hang it above your bed. Do not forget to scribble some weird equations on the board. Make sure the equations are from a subject your roommate knows not.

To the tune of the gradients
the ramp and the slope
the constant push
the trapezoidal force akin
do they dance, the Spins
in joy.
The ballerina that she is
toppling overhead
smooth as an ice;
Scanning across the floor
transitioning
to the tune of the gradients.
As the ballet moves
in phase, out of phase
the crowd rejoices
echoes ring aloud
spectacular indeed is the image !!
Caught Ya !!
